Who are you?
I’m an artist who has delved into different facets of dance and music. I sang in a punk band (Iggy Pop rules!), played drums in a jazz band, violin in the orchestra, was in a few dance companies, made belly dance costumes (zagahreet), taught & ran my pilates studio for over 10 years and produced & wrote my album, The Witch’s Hour. I even made hot pants when I was living underneath an dance/yoga studio in the North Shore of Maui.
I ended up graduating from the University of Hawaii @ Manoa, but dropped out of art class because still art was not for me. I did however embrace abstract watercolor painting at the counselors office. GO RAINBOWS!! I’ve struggled with clubbing & new age false light addiction and went on full hiatus. After a year of detoxing, getting back into dance through pole and eating every word of the Pussy Portal books.I learned how to cast my DAZZLING Va-J-J & started teaching dance, and so the legend goes …. Velvet Lola was born! 

What’s Velvet Lola all about? 
This is a place for creatives and creatives in the closet who wish to get artsy by exploring the most intimate part of their bodies and soul through art & embodied dance. We do this through Vlva Sculpture workshops or dance classes (on or off the pole). A Vlva Sculpture Workshop entails casting your vulva in a safe space with privacy and with safe organic materials. We begin with a women’s circle to connect and set intention. There’s privacy for the vulva casting and we spend most of the day connecting with ourselves & each other, imprinting, mixing, unveiling & sculpting. A Vlva Sculpture can be simple and look as natural as possible or you can paint them a bold color, bedazzle and add whatever your heart desires, there is no right or wrong.

Another way to  connect is through dance. Rather than get a movement precise first its imperative that you connect to your body and feel the movement. My classes are ongoing T-F. Another way you can start creating is online! I will be offering online dance classes & a Vulva Casting Kit coming soon (before xmas.) You’re in the comfort of your own home and like the workshop, you receive clear instructions to create your very own Vlva Sculpture masterpiece. 

What makes Velvet Lola so special?
We all have an inner Velvet Lola. And her message is express yourself through play & express your heart!  It may be for you, like it has  for me… Through INTIMATE ART & EMBODIED DANCE I learn to RADICALLY ACCEPT & LOVE MYSELF even when I was told not to either through the matrix, others or even myself. I feel positive about my body in all its unique glory & expression.  Praise and adoration are welcome as is celebrating each other’s differences and beauty. WHY? BECAUSE  WE’RE AMAZING HUMANS & IT FEELS YUMMY to put your finished art piece on your wall or to dance to your favorite song. TO FEEL GOOD MEANS WE’RE HOME IN OUR BODIES. EMBODIED. 

Velvet Lola takes a stand for all women and especially for our ancestors who weren’t able to voice out their injustices. Velvet Lola also acknowledges the healing stages for us all is unique and special- like our wonderful bodies. Meow 😉

Is it true that you were a burlesque dancer? “Her name was Lola, she was a SHOWGIRL!” And she danced with the Hot Pink Feathers in San Francisco, CA and loved it.

I’m not in a big dance company these days but I’m performing on the pole more and more, teaching dance classes and making music. Also, I was accepted into Exotic Generation MX in Playa del Carmen (a national exotic pole dance competition) where I will be showcasing my first formal pole dance performance (heels), Super excited!

What if I’ve never done anything with my hands?

Schedule a 1-1 with me and I will create your Vlva Sculpture. Or/and, you can get dirty and create a Vlva Sculpture piece in a workshop. You need not to worry as you will have step by step instructions that you can easily follow. You don’t have to paint your Vlva Sculpture afterwards. However, I highly encourage that you explore paints, colors, glitter, glue guns and rhinestones! Check out my Vlva Casting Kit online (coming soon), dates and location for workshops (for now in Berlin, Germany). Workshops are created for those that really want a sculpture and want to be part of the creative process or want to be in a group and bond with the sisterhood.
